She watched.

With all the luxuries of Heaven at her disposal, she was content to spend her time watching the goings-ons on Earth. Despite the unending amounts of things she could do, many of which she couldn’t have done on Earth, she could not do the things she wanted most in her heart. All the souls in Heaven could not replace the two she longed for, one of which she hadn’t even met in person.

Random Photoshop painting. I did the background on a whim, inspired by some Novawuff art I saw, then added the gryph, probably influenced by Namburd or Kimbo. I forget by now.

JPEG killed the clouds. That happens a lot.

EDIT:
Sorry for all the pimping lately, but I realized I never added a link to prints and such of this image. So if you want prints, cards, or other stuff of this, visit Ellen Million Graphics: [link]

I like this a lot. ^^ The clouds are nice and soft, with the patch of stars above it .. and it's just kind of interesting to look at.

Lovely details with the fur/feathers. The picture has a very calm yet haunting feeling to it. Solid job. :) Wish I could render clouds as well as you did.

*Un-sarcastic tear* :floating: I f I havn't told you yet, I really like your stories.

--and about the JPG, what exactly are you doing to get that? I have a billion subtle colors that I can get out of my JPG's so the JPG itself isn't the problem. What quality level do you put it on?

The textures on the gryphon are wonderful (particularly those feathers), as is the transparent effect. The sky and clouds are also lovely, too, despite the jpeg. And that eye is just mesmerizing. *stares*

*un sarcastic tear* :floating: I don't know if I told you allready but I really like your stories.

-- by the way, what kind of JPG program are you using to save? It shouldn't be that bad unless it accidently on the BAD Jpg setting... I can get a million subtlies out of mah JPGS...

Okay, I'm using the "ImSave for Web" thing in Photoshop, and for the quality, I have this at 85 I peeked at the higher settings, but didn't notice and substantial improvment except in the image size (I try to keep images under 100 Kb).

I know it isn't the lack of colours, of course. It's interesting to note that when I imported the PSD file to Painter Classic, Painter Classic did the same thing to the clouds, without JPEG doing the dirty work. So yes, JPEG isn't fully to blame. I honestly don't know what is it about PSDs that are able to skip over the woes bitmaps bring.

I know you can save as a JPEG without going through "Save for Web", but in my experience the formatting often fudges browsers up.

Hmm. I havn't a clue, other than it being screwed up in Painter as it is opened there.

When I save in Photoshop, I just hit SAVE and then select the format as JPG, and set it at High to Maximum quality. Of course, I don't have the option SAVE FOR WEB-- I gots da oldschool version, 5.

It might even be some crazy Adobe color management thing. It looks more like a GIF than a Jpeg...
:iconrockerbot:
It isn't Painter...I just run my unflattened, untouched by Painter version through the same resizing deal and saw what kind of JPEG it'd produce...same look. Merf.

I have 6.0...I used to have 5.0 back in 2001, and I remember a lot of my images had the same problems. *laughs* I dunno what I can do, the web version isn't really what matters to me anymore, anyway.

Gorgeous, really beautiful detail. Damn, it's easy to see why your other gryph got 'moderator's choice' at Elfwood. :)
